America’s Land Auctioneer, is joined by co-host Jack Pifer, Pifer’s Drone Pilot and Equipment Auction Associate for Pifer’s Auctioneers.  Their guest this week is Emily Paul, Director of Sales and Marketing for Pulse USA in Bismarck, North Dakota.  Pulse USA, an employee-owned company, is a specialized seed company. Pifer’s and Pulse USA collaborated in 2021 on a food plot for wildlife in western North Dakota. The food plot featured 15 seed species, creating an incredible habitat, ecosystem, and food source for wildlife. 

 Emily Paul grew up on a farm in rural North Dakota which has helped give her the skills and passion she has for the agriculture industry. Emily and her staff at Pulse USA can custom design your seed planting strategy to maximize your objectives. This includes identifying the species that will best work for the landowners’ objectives.

As Commissioner of Agriculture, Goehring also serves with the Governor and Attorney General on the North Dakota Industrial Commission, which oversees a number of state agencies and entities including the Bank of North Dakota, State Water Commission and the State Mill and Elevator.  Goehring, who has been Commissioner since 2009, has a thorough handle on state and federal policies affecting American Agriculture.  Goehring provides valuable information on programs and financing available to producers who have been negatively affected by the 2021 drought.

This week America’s Land Auctioneer, Kevin Pifer, is joined by Sam Markell and Andrew Friskrop, Plant Pathologists with North Dakota State University.  Sam and Andrew have extensive experience in the field of Plant Pathology across a broad spectrum of crops.   

Sam and Andrew highlight the different diseases farmers face every new crop year and some of the measures that can be taken to minimize crop diseases.  One of the best methods to minimize crop disease is crop rotation.  Others are genetics, seed treatment and timely application of fungicides. There are a number of emerging issues and new pathogens that concern growers in the region.  Some are affecting certain crops more than others.  What’s more, Sam and Andrew meticulously describe the emerging issues and what growers can do to minimize their adverse effect on crop yields.
